The Apprentice Electrician Position

As an Apprentice Electrician, your day-to-day responsibilities will include assisting in the installation and testing of EV charging stations, pulling wire, and bending conduit under the supervision of experienced electricians. You’ll have the opportunity to work on different types of projects and environments, from commercial buildings to residential homes. Under the guidance of a competent supervisor, you’ll be part of a supportive team structure that encourages growth within EV Careers.

Core Apprentice Electrician Responsibilities

Your main duties will involve assisting in the installation and testing of EV charging stations, maintaining tools, ensuring worksite cleanliness, and learning to read blueprints and circuit diagrams. You’ll adhere to NEC guidelines for low-voltage and 240V installations and participate in weekly safety meetings and hands-on training. Shadowing journeyman electricians during EVSE installations and repairs will also be part of your responsibilities. Other advanced technical duties include troubleshooting electrical issues, performing quality control tests, and participating in emergency repairs and maintenance.

Required Experience & Skills

The ideal candidate will be enrolled in a certified electrician apprenticeship program, have a fundamental understanding of electrical theory and safety, and be willing to work in outdoor and industrial environments. The ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, communicate effectively, and collaborate with a team is crucial. A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are also required. A minimum of 2-5 years of experience as an Apprentice Electrician is expected. Essential certifications include OSHA 10 and CPR/First Aid.

Tools & Equipment

As an Apprentice Electrician, you’ll regularly use tools such as wire strippers, conduit benders, multimeters, and power drills. You’ll need to provide your own basic hand tools, while the company will provide specialized tools and equipment such as electrical testers and thermal imagers.

Physical Requirements

The role requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in various weather conditions. Safety gear such as hard hats, safety glasses, and steel-toed boots will be required.

Training & Development
