What You’ll Do as an Apprentice Electrician

As an Apprentice Electrician at EV Careers, you’ll be stepping into a role that’s both hands-on and rewarding. We’re currently working on several large-scale projects around Beaufort, SC, involving the installation of EV charging stations. Your job is not just about connecting wires; it’s about making a difference in the world by contributing to the growth of electric vehicles in our region.

Your Daily Tasks as an Apprentice Electrician

Your days will be varied and busy. You’ll assist in installing and testing EV charging stations, ensuring our customers can charge their electric vehicles efficiently and safely. You’ll pull wire, bend conduit, and learn to read blueprints and circuit diagrams under the guidance of our experienced journeyman electricians.

Keeping the worksite clean and maintaining tools is an important part of the job, ensuring a safe and efficient working environment. You’ll also attend weekly safety meetings and hands-on training sessions to keep your skills sharp.

Each day will present new learning opportunities as you shadow journeyman electricians during EVSE installations and repairs. You’ll also be following NEC guidelines for low-voltage and 240V installations, ensuring all our work is up to code.

What You Need to Be an Apprentice Electrician

To succeed in this role, you’ll need to be enrolled in a certified electrician apprenticeship program and have a basic understanding of electrical theory and safety. A willingness to work in outdoor and industrial environments is essential, as is the ability to lift up to 50 lbs and climb ladders.

Communication is crucial in this role, so strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset are a must. A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are also required, as you’ll be traveling to different worksites around Beaufort, SC.
